BNP, JP express solidarity with long march

DHAKA: The main opposition BNP and ruling ally Jatiya Party on Saturday

expressed their solidarity with the long march of Hefazat-e-Islam.Leaders of both the parties went to Motijheel Shapla Chattor separately and exchanged
views with Hefazat leaders on the podium of the post long march grand rally.
A BNP delegation led by Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain and city BNP convenor and
former city mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka went to the venue of rally 2:50pm and left it
after few minutes.
Later on Jatiya Party presidium member and former prime minister Kazi Zafar Ahmed
went to Shapla Chattor and enquired the well being of the programme with Hefazat
leaders.
A moderator of the rally announced from the podium that a BNP delegation on behalf
of the opposition leader Khaleda Zia expressed their solidarity with the long march
programme.
On their return to the party’s Nayapaltan central office, Khandaker Mosharraf told
reporters the government could not resist the wave of people to their rally.
“The way the government behaved with the devout Muslims that was wrong,” he said.
Earlier, the BNP-led 18-party alliance extended its full moral support to the long march
of Hefazat-e-Islam.
Kazi Zafor Ahmed, on behalf of Jatiya Party, went to the rally venue around 3:25pm and
expressed solidarity with the leaders of the organisation.
