BNP preparing for polls while threatening movement: Hanif

Dhaka – Awami League joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif on Sunday said that the main opposition BNP is threatening to wage
movement with a view to getting additional advantages in the parliamentary polls.
“BNP is silently preparing itself for the next parliamentary polls though they are issuing threat to wage movement overtly. The threat is
aimed at getting additional advantages in the polls,” he said.

Hanif, also a special assistant to the Prime Minister, said this while addressing an extended meeting of Awami League Dhaka city unit at its
office at Bangabandhu Avenue in the city.

Hanif said that today’s (Sunday) public rally of BNP-led 18-party in Khulna is not part of a programme of political movement, rather it is
an electoral meeting. They (BNP) are holding public rally one after another to participate in the polls.

Urging the main opposition BNP to place its proposal and demands in the parliament, the Awami League leader said “We would discuss their
proposal, if it is a logical one.. we would find out a way to solve problem.”
