HC relieves BNP Standing Committee member Goyeshwar of charge

Senior BNP leader Goyeshwar Chandra Roy has been relieved of contempt charges after tendering apology for his reported remark about courts’ Gayeswar Roy appeared before the High Court for explaining his remarks that led to a case of contempt of court.
He appeared before the bench of Justices Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque and ABM Altaf Hossain on Sunday.The HC had on Apr 7 summoned the BNP Standing Committee member over his remarks about political control over the judiciary.
At a protest rally organised by the BNP-backed Doctors’ Association of Bangladesh (DAB), Roy had said: “All courts are now in the pockets of Mujib Coat”.
DAB Vice President Prof MA Salam and Secretary General AZM Zahid Hossain accompanied the BNP leader to the court on Sunday. – bdnews24.com
