BNP’s allies – Bhashani NAP, NDA factions -choose new leaders

Dhaka, Oct 17 -Factions of both Bangladesh NAP and National Democratic Party (NDP) yesterday expelled their presidents and secretaries general and
expressed their solidarity with the BNP-led 20-party alliance.MN Shawon Sadequi has been made president of Bangladesh NAP and Md Abdul Mokaddim as chairman of the NDP a day after the two parties at a press conference announced that they snapped their relations with the 20-party alliance.
Shawon, who was the organizing secretary of city unit and a former central president of Bangladesh Jatiya Chhatra Dal, the student wing of the Bangladesh NAP, said that they expelled the president and secretary general of the party as they violated the party constitution by leaving the alliance on their unilateral decision.
He said they have communicated with the BNP leaders and will hold a conference within a couple of days.
Mokaddim said they expelled the chairman and secretary general of the NDP as they violated the party constitution and went out from the 20-party alliance being derailed from the party for the sake of getting temporary benefit.
“We are with the 20-party alliance the and will hold a press conference soon to make our position clear,” he said.
When contacted BNP standing committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury declaimed to make any comment over the recent development in
the Bangladesh NAP and NDP.
He however said that the people are observing closely as to who are taking stance against the interests of the country, its people and their rights.
Earlier on Tuesday, leaders of Bangladesh NAP and NDP at a press conference announced that they severed their relations with the 20-party alliance accusing the BNP of maintaining relations with what they claimed were the masterminds of the 1/11 changeover.
The announcement followed formation of new political alliance Jatiya Oikya Front comprising the BNP, JatiyaOikya Prokriya, JSD and Nagorik Oikya on Saturday. – Staff Reporter
