BNP’s Amir Khosru gets anticipatory bail

Dhaka, Aug 27 – The High Court Division of the Supreme Court Monday granted ad-anticipatory bail to BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in two cases filed over ‘instigating’ the student movement over road safety and ‘conspiring’ against the State. A High Court bench comprising Justice Muhammad Abdul Hafiz and Justice Bhishmadev Chakrabortty passed the order after the BNP leader surrendered before the court and sought bail in both the cases.
Of the cases, one was filed with Shahbagh Police Station of the capital while the other with Kotwali Police Station of Chattogram on August 4.
Amir Khosru was sued, as a reported audio clip of his telephonic conversation with a boy about intensifying the recent student-movement went viral on Facebook and YouTube on August 4.
The Chattogram Kotwali Thana’s case filed has been filed under the amended 2013/57(2) section of the Information and Communication Technology Act and section 15(3) of the Special Power Act.
The FIR of Dhaka’s case says, Amir Khosru allegedly made a conspiracy against the State and gave provoking speech in connection with an electronic device. The FIR adds that he made a conspiracy against the State. – Special Correspondent
