BSTI fines Rajshahi shops Tk 30,000

The regional office of Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institutions (BSTI) has expedited drives against selling of substandard and adulterated foods and other consumers items and fined owners of two consumers shops Taka 30,000 in the metropolis on Monday.
According to the officials concerned, the BSTI in cooperation with the district administration conducted mobile court in different areas of the city.The court led by Executive Magistrate Parveen Sultana lodged separate cases against two owners of a confectionary and stationary shops on charges of possessing and selling of substandard, unhygienic and date expired items together with violation of BSTI rules and regulations.The shops are: Messers New Food and Confectionary in Luxmipur crossing and Pabna Store in New Market.The court realised Taka 30,000 from the shop owners as fined money and disposed of the cases on the spot.
