Case filed by Dipan’s wife & victim Tutul

Dhaka – Two cases were filed on Monday in connection with the attacks on the owners of two publishing houses that left one dead and three others injured.Of the cases, one was filed with Shahbagh Police Station while the other with Mohammad Police Station.

Dr Razia Rahman, wife of slain publisher Faisal Arefin Dipan, filed the case with Shahbagh thana in connection with the murder of her husband while publisher Ahmedur Rashid Chowdhury Tutul lodged the other case with Mohammadpur thana in connection with the attack on him and two other writers.

Dipan, 45, proprietor of ‘Jagriti’ publication house, was stabbed to death by miscreants on the 2nd floor of Aziz Super Market in the city’s Shahbagh area on Saturday.

Dipan was the publisher of a book of slain writer and blogger Avijit Roy.

A group of 3-4 miscreants stormed into the office of Tutul’s publishing house, ‘Shuddhoswar Prokashoni’, on the third floor of a building at Lalmatia around 2:45pm on Saturday and stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured.

Writers Sudeep Kumar and Tareque were also injured in the attack.

Blogger and writer Avijit Roy was killed and his wife Rafida Afrin Banya injured seriously as unidentified criminals stabbed them near TSC on the Dhaka University campus on February 26.

Avijit and Rafida, an expatriate couple living in the USA, returned home a few days ahead of the horrific incident as his two books were published on the occasion of Amar Ekushey Book Fair.
