Charge framing in Biswajit case May 26

A Dhaka court on Sunday fixed May 26 for charge framing against 21 accused in Biswajit Das murder case. Judge of Dhaka’s Metropolitan Session Judge Court Md Jahurul Haque passed the order Sunday after taking the case into cognizance.
Of the accused seven are in police custody, while14 are on the run.On March 5, detective police submitted charges against 21 pro-Awami League Bangladesh Chhatra League activists,  for their alleged involvement with the killing.
Bishwajit, 24, proprietor of Amantran Tailors at Shakhari Bazar in Old Dhaka was stabbed and beaten during the road blockade of BNP-led 18-party alliance on December 9 of last year. Later, Biswajit succumbed to injuries in Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The incident of swooping by the Chhatra League activists was instantly kept by the media through photo and video footage which drew criticism across the country.
The accused are students of Jagannath University and Kabi Nazrul Islam University College in the capital.
Later, Jagannath University authorities expelled seven and cancelled certificates of two for their involvement in the killing as the photos and video footage captured by different media.
The arrestees are: Mahfuzur Rahman Nahid, AHM Kibria, Qaiyum Miah Tipu, GM Rasheduzzaman Shaon, Saiful Islam, Mohammad Rafiqul Islam alias Shakil and Emdadul Haque Emdad
The fugitives are: Md Alaudsdin, Obaidul Quader Tahsin, Imran Hossain alias Imran, Rajon Talukder, Khandoker Md Yunus Ali, Tarique Bin Zohor alias Tamal, Azizur Rahman, Noor-e-Alam Limon, Al Amin Sheikh, Monirul Haque Pavel, Golam Mostafa, Mosharraf Hossain, Kamrul Hasasn and Rafiqul Islam.
Of the arrested accused Mahfuzur Rahman Nahid, GM Rasheduzzaman Shaon and Rafiqul Islam Shakil gave stataements admitting their involvement in the killing on December 23 last year.
Meanwhile, the court relieved four accused Mamun-Ur-Rashid, Faruque Hossain, Moslehuddin alias Moslem and Kazi Nihaduzzaman Tuhin of the charges following the charge sheet submitted by the Investigation of the case DB Inspector Tajul Islam on March 5.
