Charmonai Pir for inclusive polls, condemns threat to shoot

The Ameer of Islami Andolan Bangladesh Mufti Syed Rezaul Karim and Pir Shaheb of Charmonai in a statement to the press on Friday strongly condemned the ‘threat given seperatetely by the DG of BGB and the IG of Police to directly shoot pro-hartal and blockade activists and said that extrajudicial killings on any plea would not bring in good outcome.’Expressing his grave concern that the political situation did not improve and threats to directly open fire were issued by the topmost persons of the BGB and Police, the Pir Shabeb observed that the political violence and crisis arose out of the wrong path the two big political parties directed the people to in the name of politics.
Mufti Syed Rezaul Karim said that no party was singularly responsible for the prevailing situation. The Pir Shaheb called for introducing politics of ideals by throwing away the bad culture in the name of politics to steer clear of this. Otherwise the impasse would come at intervals, he said.
The Islami Andolan Ameer held the 05 January 2015 ‘voterless and one-sided election’ for the prevailing crisis and said the responsibility to overcome the same primarily fell on the government. He said that even though constitutionally right, the election was acceptable to none in the moral yardstick. Those who are in power should therefore quickly arrange an election enlisting the participation of all and hand over power to an elected new government, the Pir Shaheb added, said an Islami Andolan Bangladesh press release.
