China too putting sanctions against N.Korea: Seoul

South’s Ministry of National Defense (MND) said Friday that China has expressed intent to participate in the United Nations Security Council’s sanctions against North Korea.China’s agreement reportedly took place in a working-level defense policy meeting with South Korea.“During the meeting held in Seoul, the Chinese Defense Ministry said North Korea’s fourth nuclear test violated UN Security Council resolutions and the September 19 joint statement, so they also offered their opinion that they will to participate in the resolution on North Korea,” the MND told NK News.Inter-Korean tensions have risen since North Korea’s recent nuclear test. Last Friday the MND announced its plan to use loudspeakers to broadcast propaganda at the North. Soon after the broadcast went live, North Korea reacted by installing own speakers to counter the South’s effort.

Two days ago thousands of North Korean leaflets, including those ones directing profane insults at South Korean President Park Geun-hye were dropped in and around Seoul. On the same day, a North Korean unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was also spotted near the inter-Korean border.Recently, South Korea urged that China continue its involvement in countering the North, and has spoken of the need to deploy the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system on the Korean Peninsula, something China has opposed.
