Patuakhali – Two people, including a woman, were killed and five others injured during a clash over land dispute at Protabpur village in Sadar upazila on Thursday.The deceased were identified as Rustom Ali, 45, and his sister-in-law (brother’s wife) Maleka Begum, 55.Police and locals said there had been longstanding dispute between Jashim and Bashir over the ownership of a piece of land.The clash ensued around 8 pm when supporters of both groups went to the land to capture it.They, equipped with home made weapons, attacked each other, leaving seven people injured.Critically injured, Rustom and Maleka were taken to Barisal Medical College Hospital where doctors declared them dead around 1pm.The other injured people were taking treatment from local hospitals and clinics secretly to avoid arrest.Contacted, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Masum said they arrested two people — Jasim and Rabeya — from the spot.
