Comilla court rejects Khaleda’s bail plea in arson case

Dhaka, 14 March – The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court of Comilla Wednesday rejected BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s bail petition in an arson attack case filed during the anti-government movement of BNP-led 20-party alliance in 2015.Senior Judicial Magistrate Mustain Billah of the court passed the order after former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia filed the petition on Wednesday afternoon, says Comilla Court Inspector Subrata Banerjee.
Khaleda Zia was shown arrested in the case on Tuesday for instigating the arson attack on a bus on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Comilla’s Chauddagram that left seven passengers dead and 25 to 30 others injured on February 3, 2015.
Besides, the court asked the jail authorities to produce the BNP Chief before it on March 28.
The law enforcers submitted the charge sheet of the case to a Comilla court accusing Khaleda Zia and others on March 2, last year. – Special Correspondent
