‘Compromise with BDR carnage masterminds’ alleged

Opposition BNP standing committee member Lt Gen (retd) Mahbubur Rahman alleged that the ruling government had an understanding with the masterminds of BDR carnage.He came up with the allegation while placing floral wreaths on the graves of slain army officers at Banani Monday.
Mahbubur Rahman said, “The government hasn’t yet arrested the persons involved in the carnage. The loss of lives could be minimized through effective steps,” he said.
He demanded immediate arrest of the ‘culprits’.
The BNP leader was accompanied by vice chairman Altaf Hosain Chowdhury, adviser to BNP Chairperson Maj Gen (retd) Ruhul Alam Chowdhury, Maj Gen (retd) Fazle Elahi Akbar and central committee member Col (retd) Mohammad Shahjahan.
On February 25-26 in 2009, unruly BDR soldiers took over the BDR headquarters– Pilkhana, killed 74 people 57 army officers among them including the Director-General.
They also fired on some civilians, held many  officers hostage, vandalized property and looted valuables.
