BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday
observed that the country has turned into a ‘jail’ under the current
regime. “They (govt) are arbitrarily filing cases against people…
attacking and harassing the common people,” he told a street rally at
Sadar upazila. The rally was organised as part of the campaign for BNP-backed contestants of the upazila parishad election billed for
April 16. Fakhrul also alleged that ruling Awami League leaders have
failed to fulfill the pledges they earlier made to people. “They’ve
