Dhaka, June 18 – Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader yesterday again claimed that the country’s judiciary is completely independent and the Sheikh Hasina government doesn’t interfere in the court matters.
“It has proved again that the AL-led government doesn’t interfere in the court affairs. Judiciary is working independently,” he said this referring to the six-month bail of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.
Earlier the High Court on Tuesday granted bail for six months to Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Khaleda Zia in two cases filed on defamation charges.
Talking to the media yesterday, Quader also the road transport and bridges minister said BNP leaders always want to blame the government for their chairperson Khaleda Zia’s imprisonment but the government has no hands in her custody which has proved again.
He also alleged that BNP leaders and workers could not do anything for their party chief to free her from jail.
Meanwhile, talking to the media BNP standing committee member Moudud Ahmed said BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia will be freed from the jail through legally. BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been in jail since February 8, in connection with a graft case.
“We will free our leader from jail legally not through compromise,” he said.
Speaking at a human chain programme in front of Jatiya Press Club, BNP vice chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu said despite the case against party chairperson Khaleda Zia was bailable, she did not obtain bail due to the interference of the government.
He expressed his hope that the former premier would get bail if the government does not create any obstacles in it.
The BNP leader said if Khaleda is allowed bail, the people consider it as good work from among many bad works of it. – Staff Reporter
