The Bangladesh Cyber Crime Tribunal on Monday deferred the date to decide on whether it will frame charges against the seven accused of the case, including death sentenced war crimes convict Salauddin Quader Chowdhury’s wife Farhat Quader Chowdhuty over leaking a draft verdict of International Crimes Tribunal to October 15.
The defence lawyers submitted a petition seeking time as Farhat Quader Chowhury was ill. However, another accused her son Humam Quader Chowdhury, who was earlier granted bail, was present in the courtroom. Besides, accused Barrister AKM Fakhrul Islam, his associate advocate Mehedi Hasan, Faruk Ahmed, Mahmubul Ahsan and Nayan Ali were produced to the court from the jail.
On October 1, 2013, the then ICT-1, sentenced BNP stalwart Salauddin to death after finding him guilty of committing crimes against humanity and genocide during the Liberation War of 1971.
However, some draft portions of the verdict were posted in the internet several hours before pronouncement of the verdict. Later, showing the copy of the draft of the verdict , Farhat Quader and her son raised complaint that the verdict was originated from the Law Ministry.
