A Dhaka court Monday evening directed police to arrest the Former Posts, Telecommunications and ICT Minister Abdul Latif Siddique following an appeal filed by Advocate Abed Razda.
Magistrate Atiqur Rahman of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka gave the direction asking Ramna Police Station of the capital to arrest Latif Siddique within12 hours after an appeal of Advocate Abed Raza. The arrest order was issued for the former minister’s recent derogatory comments against holy Hajj, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina`s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Tabligh Jamaat in New York.
Former Minister Abdul Latif Siddique returned home on Sunday night. He was expelled from the cabinet and his ruling Awami League for his derogatory comments abroad.
At a programme organized by Awami League Tangail unit of the USA on September 28, Latif Siddique, who was in New York during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to the 69th United Nations General Assembly, said he was against Hajj and Tabligh Jamaat and the Jamaat-e-Islami. – Court Correspondent
