Court rejects bail pleas of 8 more pvt university students

Dhaka, Aug 13 – The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Monday rejected the bail petitions of eight more private university students in two cases filed over vandalism and attacks on police during the student movement demanding road safety. Magistrate Pranab Kumar Hui passed the order when two councils advocate Rakibul Hasan and advocate Ashrafuzzaman Didar sought bail on behalf of the accused in two cases filed with Badda and Bhatara Police stations.
The eight accused persons are Saber Ahmed Ullash, Mohammad ShihabShahrier, Shakhawat Hossain Nijhum, Zahidul Haq, Nur Mohammad, Rashedul Islam, Mushfiqur Rahman and Mohammad Hasan. They are students of EEast-WestUniversity and North South University.
Earlier on Sunday, the court rejected bail petitions of four other private university students and they are Torikul Islam, Redwan Ahmed, Mashad Murtaza Ahad, and Azizul Karim Antar in the two cases.
Earlier on August 9, 22 private university students were denied bail and sent to the jail on the completion of their 2-day remand in the cases.
On August 6, the students of the two private universities were locked into a clash with police while holding demonstrations against the attack on students during their movement for the safe road. – Correspondent
