CS against Khaleda Zia in 4 cases

Dhaka-Police on Monday submitted separate charge sheets against 105 people, including BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, in four cases filed last year with Darussalam Police Station under the Special Powers Act. Mohammad Raihanuzzaman, a Sub-Inspector of the police station, who is also the Investigation Officer of three cases, and Zubaiyer Hossain, IO of the other case, submitted the charge sheets to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Monday.
The cases were filed for torching vehicles during the BNP-led 20-party alliance’s hartal (Shutdown) and blockade programme in February, last year. The court fixed June 21 and July 17 for taking next action in the cases.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was named as the mastermind in the four cases while BNP leader Amanullah Aman was made one of the accused persons. Meanwhile, Aman secured bail in all the cases while Khaleda Zia has been shown fugitive in the cases.
On February 2, 2015, the 20-party activists set ‘New Pallabi Express’ bus on fire in front of Apex Showroom in the city’s Darus Salam area. Abdur Razzak, Sub-Inspector of Darussalam Police Station, filed one of the cases against 29 people, including BNP leader Amanullah Aman.The IO pressed charges against 33 people, including Khaleda Zia and Amanullah Aman, in the case.
Besides, SI Kamrul Hasan filed a case against 16 people for torching a bus of ‘New Dhaka Link’ at Diabari under Darussalam Police Station on February 20, 2015. IO Raihanuzzaman pressed charges against 21 people, including Khaleda, in the case.
Meanwhile, a case was filed against 22 people in connection with arson attack on a bus of ‘Itihash Paribahan’ on February 23, 2015. Police submitted charge sheet against 24 people, including the BNP chief, in the case.
On February 29, 2015, miscreants set a bus of ‘Projapoti Paribahan’ afire near Mukti Plaza in the city’s Mirpur area. Anwar Hossain, Sub-Inspector of Darussalam Police Station, filed case against 25 people in this connection while Zubaiyer Hossain, Investigation Officer of the case, pressed charges against 27 people, including
