CU asst proctor among 10 sued over BCL leader Diaz’s death

Chittagong – A killing case has been filed against 10 people, including Chittagong University assistant proctor Anwar Hossain, over the death of CU BCL leader Irfan Chowdhury Diaz.
CU unit Bangladesh Chhatra League president Alamgir Tipu, its former general secretary Jamshedul Alam Chowdhury and its publicity secretary Rashedul Alam Jisan were among the accused. UNB news agency reported
Diaz’s mother Jaheda Amin Chowdhury filed the case against 10 named people and eight unidentified people with the court of Chittagong senior Judicial Magistrate Shiblu Kumar Dey on Thursday.
Talking to reporters, Diaz’s elder sister advocate Jubaida Sarwar Chowdhury said the court accepted the case and asked the Criminal Instigation Department (CID) to submit an investigation report about the case before it within 30 days.
Jubaida claimed that Diaz was murdered in a planned way.
Diaz, assistant secretary of the central BCL committee, was found hanged with ceiling fan at his residence in Hathazari upazila on the night of November 20.
Police received the autopsy report of Diaz on Wednesday which clearly mentioned that the BCL leader Diaz took his own life by hanging himself.
The autopsy was conducted by a professor and two assistant professor of the Forensic Department of Chittagong Medical College Hospital who found the evidence of suicide.
Diaz’s family members rejected the autopsy report.
