Dhaka, Apr 20 – Officials of Customs Intelligence seized another luxury LEXUS car in Sylhet on charge of misusing carnet facility on Tuesday midnight.
Sources at the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) here said the car was recovered abandoned at 2 am from in front of the SylhetI regional office of CIID with a letter inside it.The letter said the car has been handed over to customs intelligenceI to comply with the law.. The value of the car is about Tk 1.5 crore, said DG of CIID Moinul Khan.
The LEXUS was brought from UK in 2011 under carnet facility with an undertaking to send back within a year. But this car has been used on roads without compliance, he added.
The owner prefers anonymity while handing over the car which was found unregistered, the DG CIID said.
