The mediation between Sonali Bank Limited and the directors of Dandy Dying Limited in the case filed for a defaulting loan amount of Tk 45.49 crore failed and the court fixed March 23 to frame issue of the case.
Judge Md Rabiuzzaman of Dhaka’s Ortho Rin Adalat-1 (Money Loan Court-1) passed the order on Thursday after the mediation process between the plaintiff Sonali Bank and the defendants failed Thursday.On October 3 of last year, Advocate Abdus Salam was made the mediator of the case to end the disagreement between both parties of the case. The court allowed him time several times to persuade the parties, but at last he failed. The mediator summoned the representatives of the bank and the defendants of the case to his chamber and they had several meetings.
On October 2 in 2012, Sonali Bank Limited filed the case against the defendants after their company failed to pay off the principal loan with interest accumulated to over the last 12 years, totaling to Tk 45.49 crore. The company had borrowed Tk 12.16 crore from the bank’s principal office in the capital on October 16, 2001, says the case statement.
The defendants are: BNP leader Tareque Rahman, his younger brother Arafat Rahman Koko, Giasuddin-Al-Mamun, Mamun’s wife Shahina Yasmin, Dandy Dying Limited, Late Sayed Eskander’s son Shams Eskander and Shafin Eskander, daughter Sumaiya Eskander, wife Nasrin Ahmed, Kazi Galib Ahmed, Mrs Shamsunnahar and Masud Hasan. – Court Correspondent
