Dhaka loses to Kazakstan in OIC Asst Scy Gen election

Bangladesh has lost to Kazakhstan in the election for the post of OIC Assistant Secretary General for science and technology.

Bangladesh got 6 votes out of 18 while Kazakhstan obtained 12 votes in the election held on Saturday at Bangabandhu International Conference Center where the 45th OIC foreign minister conference is taking place.

Kamrul Ahsan, secretary (bilateral and consular) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, vied for the post of assistant secretary general for science and technology for the Asia group of OIC.

The 45th Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (OIC-CFM) began here on Saturday with a special focus on Rohingya issue and other challenges facing the Muslim Ummah.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina opened the two-day event at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the city in the morning.

This year’s theme is “Islamic Values for Sustainable Peace, Solidarity and Development.”
