Dhaka, July – Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has cancelled holidays of its officials and employees next week as part of initiative to strengthen its ongoing ‘crash programme’ to eliminate Chikungunya.DSCC Public Relation Officer (PRO) Zakir Hossain said the DSCC Mayor Sayeed Khokon gave the order to cancel next week holidays to strenthen its monitoring system as well as bring more dynamism in the current ‘crash programme’ to eliminate mosquitoes , which are responsible for Chikungunya.
If necessary, the decision of cancelation holidays might be extended more weeks, the DSCC PRO said.
Amid widespread criticism, the DSCC Mayor Sayeed Khokon launched the ‘crash programme’ on July 14 in Nagar Bhaban to eliminate mosquitoes under the corporation within few weeks. – News Desk
