Speakers in the concluding ceremony of a three-day digital innovation fair-2015 here last night said digitisation has become the driving force for building a middle income digital Bangladesh in reality.They said the common people are getting government services easily at their doorsteps in a hassle-free manner by virtue of digitisation in the process of building a corruption- free developed Bangladesh by realising Vision 2021.The district administration organised the fair at Town Hall premises with assistance of the UNDP-funded Access to Information (A2I) Programme of the Prime Minister’s Office for sensitising and bridging the people with ICT in getting government services.Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee of the Ministry of Public Administration and Treasurer of the central committee of Bangladesh Awami League (AL) HN Ashikur Rahman addressed the ceremony as the chief guest.Member of the Board of Directors of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) and Acting Chairman of its Rangpur Unit Rehana Ashikur Rahman and Deputy Secretary of AL Rashek Rahman addressed the ceremony as special guests.Deputy Commissioner’s wife Farhana Yasmin, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC-General) Shahidul Islam, ADC (Revenue) Mostain Billah, ADC (Education & ICT) Dr ATM Mahbub-Ul Karim, Senior District Information Officer Humayun Kabir and Secretary of Rangpur Unit of BDRCS Shah Md Nabiullah Panna were present.Presided over by Deputy Commissioner Farid Ahammad, officials, teachers, students, entrepreneurs of the Union Information Service Centres (UISCs), ICT experts, civil society members, socio-cultural and political activists and elite also attended the ceremony.The speakers said the nation earned independence through the War of Liberation under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1971 for building an exploitation-free developed Sonar Bangla equal for all citizens.To achieve the goal, the Vision 2021 as envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given the nation the concrete direction and ideal of building a middle income and non-communal digital Bangladesh free from poverty and hunger, they said.They said the government has launched the A2I Programme for reaching all services to the people’s doorsteps quickly and easily in a hassle-free way through the digitised Information and Communication Technologies at the lowest costs.The UISCs have already made an epoch in providing e-services like e-education, e-agriculture, e-health, e-governance, e-medicine, e-employment e-purjee, e-admission, telemedicine and many other e-services making life easier to accelerate uplift.Besides, the government has set up e-service centres and web-portals at the district and upazilas headquarters. Pourasabhas, city corporations, directorates and ministries have also been providing similar automated services reducing corruptions, they said.Later, the chief guest distributed prizes and certificates among the winners of different competitions and best stalls out of total 38 stalls set up by the administrations, different departments and organisations, educational institutions, UISCs and banks in the fair. -BSS, Rangpur
