DMP ban on carrying arms, rally around JS

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Tuesday imposed a restriction on carrying firearms, explosives and other harmful objects and  holding procession, rally and demonstration around Sangsad Bhaban to ensure smooth functioning of the parliament during its 19th session scheduled to begin on Thursday.   The restrictions will remain in force from 12:00 am tomorrow (Wednesday night) until the conclusion of the 19th session of the parliament.   The restrictions was imposed under section 28 and 29 of Police Ordinance 1976 for ensuring “peace and law and order” around the Sangsad Bhaban, said a DMP press release.   The prohibited areas are — Mohakhali crossing of Mymensingh road-Bangla motor crossing, Bangla motor link road (west side)-Sonargaon SAARC fountain, Panthapath (south)-linking point-Farmgate, Mirpur road Shyamoli intersection- linking point of Dhanmondi-16 (old-27), Rokeya Sarani-linking road-old division (aircraft) crossing-Parjatan crossing (Bijoy sarani), Indira road (east point)-Manik Mia avenue (west side), JS restricted areas and all roads under this areas and lanes. – UNB
