A drug addict young man allegedly committed suicide in Roushnabag area in sadar upazila on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Md Saju Islam, 18, son of Shahidul Islam of the area.
Quoting family sources, police said Saju had been addicted to drugs for long.
On the fateful day, he wanted Tk 50 from his mother and as she refused to give the money, he committed suicide by hanging himself with a scarf in his room.
Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
Humayan Kabir, officer-in-charge of Panchagarh Police Station, said the autopsy report mostly suggested that Saju had committed suicide.
