Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive arrested one
person and seized contraband tablets and injections worth about Taka
19 lakh from Joynagar area on the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj Highway under
Phulbari upazila of the district on Tuesday.
The arrested was identified as Afzal Hossain, 32, of Boropukuria
village under Parbotipur upazila of the district.
Captain of Phulbari BGB Lt. Col. Khandaker Mizanur Rahman said a team
of BGB intercepted a pickup van in the area and arrested van driver
Afzal. However, two of his accomplices fled away sensing the presence
of the BGB team.
After searching the van, the BGB men recovered 2,400 pieces of Sanagra
tablets and 2,150 ampule of Omepraza vaccine injections worth about
Taka 19 lakh.
Later, BGB filed a case with Phulbari thana in this connection.
