DSE, CSE have green week

Dhaka, Aug 4 – Share price index at the country’s both bourses – Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange – had a week in green on Thursday though last two trading days saw negative movement.
The total turnover at the DSE, the prime bourse, was Tk 5,321.92 crore, a rise by 70.72 percent, while last week’s total turnover was Tk 3,117.41 crore.Besides, the daily average turnover at the DSE was Tk 1,064.38 crore against last week’s average turnover at Tk 623.48 crore.
Three of the five days of the week, the index closed positive with combined total gain of 89.12 index points.
The remaining two trading days saw negative movement with combined loss of 23.74 index points.
DSE benchmark index, DSEX, gained 65.38 points or 1.12 percent to close at 5,880.45 points in the week with 70 percent increase in turnover.
DSEX closed in the previous week at 5,815.07 points, gaining 32.60 points or 0.56 percent.
DS30, the blue chip index at the DSE, lost 5.98 points or 0.28 percent to close at 2,123.12 points on the previous week.
DSEX Shariah Index, DSES, closed the week at 1,311.6 points losing 6.02 points or .46 percent.
LankaBangla Securities, analysing last week’s market situation, said, “The positive earnings declaration of several large cap stocks along with dividend declaration of some major stocks could be the reason for such gain in the index this week.”
Of the 335 issues traded at the DSE last week, 177 gained, 142 suffered loss and 15 remained unchanged.
Among the large cap sectors, Engineering, Bank, and Mutual Fund gained 5.09 percent, 4.89 percent and 3.14 percent respectively.
Top gaining stocks at Dhaka bourse were DULAMIACOT, SAMATALETH and ISNLTD.
Conversely, top losing stocks at Dhaka bourse were PPRAGATILIF, UNIONCAP, and MERCINS.
LANKABAFIN topped the week’s turnover chart followed CITYBANK, BBSCABLES, CNATEX, ONEBANKLTD, and SAIFPOWER.
The CSE key index, CSCX closed the last week at 11012.75 points, a rise by 1.06 percent.
Of the 289 issues traded, 156 advanced, 118 suffered loss and 15 remained unchanged.
The value of the traded issues was Tk 63.67 crore on the day against Tk 69.13crore on Wednesday. – UNB
