1975 events are in the history, it’s not proper time to analyze: Inu

Dhaka-Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu termed Awami League General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam’s comment on Jatiyo Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) as undesirable, sad and irrelevant. He was speaking to the journalists at the Secretariat yesterday in a reaction to the Monday’s comment on JSD by Syed Ashraful Islam that said JSD had created an atmosphere for the assassination Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1975.
“I think there should not be mud-throwing incidents inside 14-party for the sake of unity. Extremists are killing ordinary people. This is rather an important problem,” Inu said.
Inu said at the moment secret killings and ensuring safety for the country and the people are the main problems not JSD.
“Concerted effort is needed to ensure safety for the people and we are working together under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he said.
The minister also said each event in 1975 is written in history but this is not proper time to analyze what mistakes JSD or Awami League committed during 1972-1975.
“Being asked whether the comment by Syed Ashraful Islam would affect unity of the party he said as after proper analysis AL, JSD and Sheikh Hasina decided to unite JSD with the alliance the unity would be maintained .This unity is contributing a lot in conducting the country in the spirit of the Liberation War,” Inu said.
It should be kept in mind that Bangabandhu was killed by ante-liberation communal group. Blaming a certain party for killing Bangabandhu does not go with the country’s history, he said.
“Unity in the 14-party alliance should be maintained. I ask the party alliance leaders not work with any incitements. Unity, patience would ensure safety to the country,” he added.
Syed Ashraf on Monday said that the AL would have to repent for inducting a JSD member into the cabinet. He also accused the JSD of creating controversy over the history of Liberation War.-Staff Reporter
