EC sends Howlader’s affidavit to ACC

The Election Commission on Thursday sent to the Anti Corruption Commission the copies of the affidavits Jatiya Party leader ABM Ruhul Amin Howlader submitted before the 9th and 10th parliamentary elections.
The documents were requested by the anti-graft watchdog, assistant secretary of the EC Farhad Hossain.Howlader, who recently lost his job as secretary general of JP, was elected MP from Barisal-6 in the 9th general election. He returned to the 10th parliament from Patuakhali-1 seat.
In the Jan. 5 election affidavit Howlader said he held some Tk 6.66 crore in cash, a big jump from Tk 17.69 lakh he said he had in cash before the 2008 9th parliamentary elections.
In the latest affidavit Howlader said he and his wife held bonds, shares and letters of credits worth Tk 8.5 crore in 2013 though he mentioned having no such assets five years ago.
In the five years since 2008 Howlader said he also bought a land cruiser worth Tk 67,94,530 while his wife got another land cruiser worth Tk 59,44,530. – UNB
