Ershad slams govt for crackdown on Hefajat men

Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad on Thursday slammed the government for driving away activists of Hefajat-e-Islam from Shapla Chattar in the capital after their May 5 rally.“The government helped the youths at Shahbagh to continue their programme for the last three months, but it did not allow the Hefajat workers stay in the capital for a day. It is a one kind of discrimination” he said.
The JP chief was addressing at a wayside rally at Palashbari upazila in the morning.
Chaired by district JP president Abdur Rashid Sarkar, the rally was addressed, among others, by Barrister Dilara Jaman.
Expressing frustration apparently over joining the Awami League-led grand alliance government, Ershad said: “What have we (JP) got by joining the alliance? Rather, my party’s seats in the Sangsad lessened. The AL-led alliance government took away some seats, including the seat of my wife”. (Source: UNB)
