A European Union Election Exploratory Mission is due in Dhaka on Saturday on a visit to see Bangladesh’s preparations for the looming national elections.
Balthasar Benz of the European External Action Service will lead the five-member team till Sep 23, says a European Union delegation media release.
It says the purpose of the mission is “to assess the feasibility, usefulness and advisability of and to help prepare for a potential Election Observation Mission to Bangladesh, for an appointed period before, during and after the foreseen general election”.
During the visit, they will hold meetings “with the relevant authorities and stakeholders, including members of the media”. -bdnews24.com
