Fagun Haway has now won two awards at the 9th SAARC Film Festival. After much debacle regarding the terror attack on April 21 in Sri Lankan churches the festival started on July 2 in the Sri Lankan capital city Colombo. The film has won Best Cinematographer Award for Enamul Haque Sohel and Best Sound Planning Award for Ripon Nath. Tauquir Ahmed directed Fagun Haway as the first film on the Language Movement of 1971. The film stars Siam Ahmed, Nusrat Imrose Tisha, Indian actor Yashpal Sharma among others.
This year apart from Fagun Haway two other big screen productions and two shorts were selected for the SAARC Film Festival. Komola Rocket by Noor Islam Mithu and Alpha by Nasiurdddin Yousuff Bachchu are the other two big screen productions. Amongst these Fagun Haway and Komola Rocket were screened on July 3 while Alpha on July 5. The two short films are Quarter Mile Country based on the Rohingya refugee crisis by Noman Robin and See You by Chaitaly Samaddar and Saiful Akbar Khan. The first of these were screened on the opening day on July and the second one on July 4.
The 9th SAARC Film Festival was first scheduled to be held from May 7 to 12 but then due to Colombo terror attacks that saw 253 people dead the six-day long festival was pushed back to start on July 2.
