Fake woman judge calls CMM court, two held

DHAKA – A woman on Wednesday claiming herself as a judge of the Supreme Court asked a Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court Magistrate of Dhaka to release an accused.
The CMM Court managed to know of the conspiracy and arrested two accomplices of the fake judge.Magistrate Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman Wednesday placed the duo on a 7-day remand each in response to a prayer of the Investigation Officer (IO) seeking a 10-day remand for each.
IO, Detective Branch (DB) inspector Hasan Al Mamun Wedneday produced suspects- Md Mozammel Haque, son of Md Mohiuddin of village Nazirdighi of Kuliarchar Upazila in the district of Kishoreganj and Md Abdul Hannan Khan, son of Haji Abdur Rahim Khan, village Humaipur, under Bajitpur Upazila of Kishoreganj before the CMM Court, while advocate AKM Ekram Khan seeking cancellation of the remand prayer wanted their bail. The Magistrate rejected their bail petitions.
The story in brief is: On Jan 8, a woman telephoned Magistrate Saifur Rahman identifying herself as Supreme Court Justice Najmun Ara Sultana requested for the release of Md Kamal Uddin Khan, accused in a case filed with Ramna thana. As the Magistrate could not believe it, he apprised the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) about the incident.
When Justice Najmul Ara was informed of it, she was astonished and asked them to look into it and take necessary action.
The CMM Court and Police acted on the information and detained the two suspects, while another suspect fled away ffrom the Court. Two arrestees were placed on remand to find out the fake judge and others involved in the conspiracy.
