Fakhrul 18 other opposition leaders secure bail

Dhaka,s Additional Metropolitan Session Judges Court on Wednesday  granted bail to 19 opposition BNP leaders including its Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other leaders Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Amanullah Aman and Gayes Chandra Roy in a case, filed in connection with cocktail explosion in the Secretariat of the capital.
Fourth Additional Metropolitan Session Judge M Habibur Rahman passed the order after hearing.
Of the 29 accused in the case other 10 submitted time petitions and the court granted their petitions, defence lawyer Joynal Abedin Mezba told this correspondent.
Besides, the court deferred the date of charge framing against the 29 leaders of BNP-led 18-party alliance in the case.
Earlier, the leaders secured bail in five cases including this case from the High Court Division.
BNP Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alammgir among a number of other alliance leaders were sued for their alleged involvement in bomb explosion in the secretariat, vehicle vandalism and arson in front of the Prime Minister Office during the dawn-to-dusk shutdown on April 29 in 2012. – Court Correspondent
