Bangladesh Chalachitra Sangbadik Samity (BACHSAS) have got their new leaders for the tenure- 2019-21. The election was held on Friday at National Press Club in the city.
Falguni Hamid and Kamruzzaman Babu have been elected as president and general secretary of the new committee for the next two years. According to the poll president-elect Falguni Hamid got 365 votes and her nearest competitor Kazi Faruk Babul got 86 votes. On the other hand for the general secretary post Kamruzzaman Babu got 161 votes and his nearest competitor Shapath Chowdhury got 159 votes. In the bi-annual poll there were 539 voters in total. There were 46 candidates for 21 posts of the committee. Senior Journalist Alimuzzaman Haru acted as the chief election commissioner of the poll. Other commissioners were- Erfanul Hoque Nahid, Mahabubur Rahman, Kanai Chakroborty and Abul Hossain Majumder.
Other elected members of the committee are- vice presidents Badal Ahmed and Shaikat Alauddin, assistant general secretary- Rimon Mahfuz, financial secretary-Moin Abdullah, organising secretary- Rahat Saiful, research and international secretary-Shafiqul Alam Milon, secretary of social welfare and women affairs-Shraboni Hawlader, secretary of sports and cultural affairs-Muzahid Samiullah, print and publication secretary-Abu Sufian Ratan and office secretary- Nipu Barua. Executive members are- Abida Nasrin Koli, Ibrahim Khalil Khokan, Anjan Rahman, Rezaul Karim Reza, Tusher Adittya, Mahmud Manjur, Irani Biswas and Liton Rahman.
