Ferry plying on Daulatdia-Paturia route resumes after 7 ½ hrs

Ferry services on the Daulatdia-Paturia route in the Padma river resumed on Tuesday morning after seven and a half hours’ disruption due to dense fog.Bidyut Kumar Saha, manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at Aricha, said their ferry services as well as plying of the water vessels came to a halt at 3:00 am due to blurred visibility caused by dense fog.Three ferries—Barkat, Keramat Ali and Madhabilata—with a large number of vehicles and passengers—had come to a stop in the middle of the Padma river at 3:00 am. Passengers suffered as a good number of vehicles were kept waiting on both sides of the river for crossing. However, ferry services on the important route resumed around 10:30 am as fog started disappearing after the sunrise. -UNB, Manikganj
