The first convocation of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU), Dhaka is scheduled to be held on November 16, 2015. A number of sub-committees have been formed comprising of teachers, officers and staff of the university. Every member of the SAU family is working to organizing the convocation ceremony. Through commercial and non-commercial advertisements in the print and electronic media, the news of this academic event has been disseminated and the graduates of SAU have started to get their names registered. Fees for registration and getting graduation certificate have been fixed following the rates adopted by other public universities of Bangladesh.It may be mentioned here that the SAU has only a meager fund to holding such a huge event, that is, convocation. The main expenses include preparation and printing of degree certificates on standard paper, arranging convocation Gown and Hood (Rental) for the participating graduates, publication of the commemorative souvenir.
It may be indicated that a recent academic council meeting with Prof. Md. Shadat Ulla, Vice Chancellor SAU on Chair unanimously adopted a resolution to honor Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with Doctor Honoris Causa in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the development of the agriculture sector of Bangladesh.
The Hon’ble President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Chancellor of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Md. Abdul Hamid has given his kind consent to chair the convocation function.
We sincerely hope that various government agencies and other concerns will extend fullest cooperation in making our first convocation a total success.
