Following Nazrul’s ideal to establish secular society stressed

Literary and cultural personalities at a special function have stressed on following the ideal of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam to establish a secular society based on universal humanism, justice and equity.They made the observation at the function organised by Rangpur Sahitya-Sangskriti Parishad (RSSP)  on Sunday night at Shilpakala Academy in observance of the 42nd death anniversary of the national poet.
The RSSP chalked out programmes like recitation of Nazrul poems, self-composed poems dedicated to Nazrul, rendering Nazrul songs and discussion on his life and works to pay due respect to him.
Founding president of RSSP Professor Muhammad Alim Uddin attended the function as chief guest with its incumbent President Aftab Hossain in the chair.
Convener Neel Ratan Sarker of the 42nd death anniversary of Nazrul discussed on preparation of the function while General Secretary of RSSP Sunil Sarker delivered welcome speech.
Noted educationists including former head of the Department of Bengali of Begum Rokeya Government College Professor Md Shah Alam and Professor Reazul Islam addressed as keynote discussants.
Literary and cultural personalities Professor Maloy Kishore Bhattacharya, Dr Mofizul Islam Mantu and Additional Superintendent of Police (Addl.SP) Saifur Rahman Saif discussed on the life and works of Nazrul.
Members of RSSP Neelima Akhter, Puspojeet Roy and Anika Jahan rendered Nazrul’s songs, Kajol Roy and Nishat Nigar Karobi recited Nazrul’s poems while Habibur Rahman, Swattik Shah Al Maruf, Abul Khayer, Tayebur Rahman,  Mamtazur Rahman recited self-composed poems dedicated to the rebel poet.
The speakers said Nazrul was the greatest source of inspiration War of Liberation in freeing the nation from deprivation, exploitation, injustice and communalism to attain independence from the Pakistani occupation forces.
Professor Shah Alam put importance on evaluating ideal of Nazrul and more inclusion of his literary works in academic curriculums at all levels to spread his thoughts, philosophy and doctrine among the young generations.
Professor Reazul Islam called for conducting more research on the unparalleled literary and cultural works, human philosophy and ideal of the rebel poet so that the young generations could know more about the rebel poet.
Professor Muhammad Alim Uddin suggested for following the ideal and philosophy of the rebel poet to establish an equity-based society free from injustice, exploitation and communalism for welfare of the humankind, reports BSS from Rangpur.
