Fuad Zaman confesses to derogatory remarks on Bangabandhu

Dhaka, Sept 17 – Fuad Zaman, 43, son-in-law of Sultan Shahriar Rashid, a death sentence executed convict in the Bangabandhu murder case, yesterday made a confessional statement in the case filed for making derogatory remarks about the Father of the Nation and glorifying the killers on Facebook. Magistrate Sattyabrata Sikder of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka recorded the confessional statement and Fuad was sent to the jail.
A Dhaka court placed him on a three-day remand on September 13. On Monday, the investigation officer of the case, Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit Sub-Inspector Partha Pratim Brahmachari produced him before the court on completion of the remand. Earlier, Fuad agreed to make a confessional statement.
Fuad Zaman was arrested form Hatirjheel around 10 pm on Wednesday. He was accused in a case filed with Dhanmondi Police Station on August 23 by Nazmul Hasan Piyash, a member of Ahsanullah Science and Technology University wing of Bangabandhu Engineers Council. – Special Correspondent
