Gazipur, April 27 – Detectives arrested 45 leaders and activists of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, including city unit ameer Principal SM Sanaullah, reportedly along with explosives from a resort at Pubail in the city on Friday morning.
Tipped off that Jamaat men were holding a clandestine meeting at Swapnachura Resort to plan subversive acts, a team of Detective Branch of police conducted a drive there around 7:30am, said district police super Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid.
During the raid, the law enforcers arrested 45 leaders and activists of the party and recovered 15 petrol bombs, four crude bombs and some books on jihad from their possession, he claimed.
Meanwhile, police arrested two motorcyclists along a foreign pistol in Kaliganj upazila. -UNB
