There is something for the new pensioners to cheer about. The government on Monday enhanced the rate of surrendered pension money up to 15 percent with effect from December 1. A gazette notification was published in this regard on Monday. According to the notification, the retired government employees who will surrender their 50 percent pension money will be eligible to avail of the new rate. This will also be applicable for the spouse of the dead official or employee as per the service rule. The public servant who served for more than 10 years but less than 15 years will get Tk 260 for their surrendered taka each. It has been enhanced by 13 percent from Tk 230. The government servant who served for more than 15 years but less than 20 years will get Tk 245 in lieu of the existing rate of Tk 215 for the surrendered taka each, showing a 13.95 percent rise. The ratio for those who will retire after 20 years of service is Tk 230 against Tk 1. The previous ratio was Tk 200 per taka. – UNB
