Govt bans Ansar Al Islam

The government has banned Ansar Al Islam, the Bangladesh chapter of al-Qaeda in the Indian subcontinent, for their anti-state activities.

The Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Sunday issued a notification in this regard.

According to the notification, the activities of the outfit are contrary to peace and discipline of the State. “Its activities have already been proved as a threat to public security,” the notification added.
