Govt failure to blame for HSC percentage fall: Moudud

BNP standing committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed on Sunday rejected the Prime Minister’s remark that the opposition’s destructive programmes were responsible for declining the passage per cent of this Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations.“It has happened due to the government’s failures and wrong policies,” he said while addressing a discussion meeting on “Necessity of caretaker government in resolving current political crisis” at the National Press Club.
Moudud termed the Prime Minister’s remark unguarded and said it has become a habit of Sheikh Hasina to blame the opposition for anything bad.
He said creative question method has been introduced without proper training for the teachers.
“The results have showed a downtrend as the students couldn’t be properly made familiar with the type of the questions. The government’s wrong policies led to the results’ fall.” He added.
Moudud said the government is shifting its blame on the opposition to cover up its failures.
He also mentioned that there was no result debacle when you had imposed hartals on 175 days when you were in the opposition.
After receiving the results on Saturday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina held the BNP and Jamaat-Shibir responsible for declining the passage percent in the HSC exam.
The BNP leader said the ruling Awami League (AL) couldn’t bounce back as its leaders and activists at the grassroots level got demoralised following the humiliating defeats in the elections to five city corporations.
“The AL couldn’t make a rebound as its leaders and activists at the grassroots level have got dispirited. The defeats in the elections to five city corporations have shattered their all dreams,” he added.
The meeting was organised by Bangladesh Youth Forum.
Moudud said the AL leaders are now making futile efforts to invigorate party activists and confuse people by telling them about its return to power through the next polls.
He accused the Jubo League and Chhatra League of indulging in various terrorist activities and said once underground goons are now leading the two ruling party bodies.
“Their activities are enough for hastening their (government) fall,” he added.
The BNP leader said the government has created the ongoing political crisis only to cling to power using its muscle power against people.
He said no election would be allowed to be held on Bangladesh soil without restoration of the caretaker government.
He warned the government that they would announce tougher action programmes after Eid if it does not accept their demand for restoration of the caretaker government to oversee the next polls. – Staff Reporter
