BNP Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday said the government won’t change their mentality anymore as they have already taken decision.“The government hanged billboards on its development works in different points of the city. Ayub Khan, then President of Pakistan, had observed development decade during Pakistan period. Ershad did it too. But they didn’t work. They rather, compelled bound to quit amid mass upsurge,” he said while addressing as the chief guest a meeting protesting the indecent remarks of the Prime Minister and his son Joy against BNP senior vice president Tarique Rahman.
Minister for Environment Dr Hasan Mahmud had termed the body language of Mirza Fakhrul very ugly and he suggested the BNP leader to speak with patience.
The meeting, organised by Jagannath University unit of Chhatra Dal, the student wing of the BNP, was held at the National Press Club with its president Faisal Ahmed Sajal in the chair.
Fakhrul said, whatever technique or campaign are carried out by the government won’t work as the people have already taken their decision. “No government can survive if it takes stand against the people,” he added,
He accused the government to destroy the country’s economy through corruption.
The BNP leaders suggested the government to quit now considering the prevailing situation.
“I’ll tell the government that there is still time. You please try to understand the body language of the people. Their body language advised you to leave the power. Even then, if you don’t understand, the people will ensure your fall through mass upsurge,” he said.
Fakhrul said the people expressed their no confidence on the government through the just concluded five city corporation polls.
Criticising the statements of government ministers that body language of BNP leaders are no good, he said that they don’t need understanding the body language of the BNP leaders; rather they should try to understand the language of peoples’ mind.
The BNP leader asked the students to get united for the after Eid movement for restoration of the non-party caretaker government.
He alleged that many meritorious students like Siraj of Jagannath University were killed during the four and half a years of the present government.
BNP vice president and former Dhaka mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka called upon the students to play their pioneering role to remove the government.
BNP chairperson’s adviser Shamsuzzaman Dudu, joint secretary general Aman Ullah Aman, Nazim Uddin Alam, Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anny, MP, Juba Dal president Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, Shafiul Bari Babu, Chhatra Dal president Abdul Quader Bhuiyan Jwel, Omar Faruk Mollah, among others, also addressed the meeting. – Staff Reporter
