Govt to bear treatment cost of Abdul Jabbar, Abul Hashem

The government will bear all treatment cost of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra artiste Abdul Jabbar and former lawmaker from Gafargaon of Mymensingh Abul Hashem.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim made the announcement when he visited ailing Jabbar and Hashem at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) here on Monday .

Jabbar is suffering from kidney, cardiovascular and other ailments. The minister spent few moments beside the hospital bed of Jabbar and enquired about treatment.

The artiste played active role to encourage freedom fighters by singing patriotic songs during the independence war of 1971. After the Liberation War, he donated Taka 12 lakh to the relief fund of newly independent Bangladesh. He obtained Bangabandhu Padak (1973), Ekushey Padak (1980), Shadhinota Padak (1996) and different national and international awards.

Later, Nasim also visited Abul Hashem and enquired about his treatment. Hashem was elected Member of Parliament two times from Gafargaon. He was close associate of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, reports BSS.
