Govt’s dream of perpetuating power will be shattered soon: BNP

Calling upon the Prime Minister to quit forthwith, BNP on Monday warned that the government’s dream of perpetuating its power by force will get shattered soon in the face of the ongoing mass movement.
In a statement, BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed also said, “The current illegal government must shoulder the full responsibility for the evolving situation caused by the political crisis.”The BNP leader came down hard on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for what he said describing the current political crisis which had been created by her as a law-and-order problem.
“She (Hasina) often says she’ll do what ever necessary for ensuring public security. The entire nation wants resignation of you and your government. The nation thinks the public safety will be ensured if you quit,” he added.
Salahuddin renewed his party’s allegation that the government wants to foil the opposition’s movement by maligning it through implementing their sabotage conspiracies, including carrying out petrol bomb attacks.
He claimed that huge petrol bombs were recovered from an office of ruling party’s youth wing Jubo League in Chittagong’s Agrabad area.
The BNP leader alleged that no one was arrested in this connection though newspapers ran news items about the incident with photographs. “So, it’s now clear to the nation about the perpetrators of the subversive acts,” he observed.
Salahuddin, on behalf of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, urged the country’s people and leaders and activists of the 20-party to peacefully continue the indefinite transport blockade an ongoing hartal until the current democratic movement’s victory is achieved.- UNB
