Chairman of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) M Badiuzzman on Monday said the economic emancipation of the country was not achieved even 43 years after the independence due to corruption.
Addressing a prize giving ceremony at the Shilpakala Academy Auditorium at Segunbagicha, he called upon all to raise their voices against corruption for economic emancipation in future.
The anti-graft watchdog chief alleged that most of the students organizations in the educational institutions are derailed from ideals and that’s why the youth society in the country are got involved in corruption.The ACC organized debate competitions in school and college level into the corruption issues to create awareness against corruption to mark the corruption prevention week.
Badiuzzaman said the nation did not get corruption free political leaders even after 43-year of independence and alleged that most of student organisations were corrupted.
“We got an independent nation, national flag and sovereign state, but we did not achieve an economic emancipation as corruption had swallowed it,” he added.
He said, the problem would solve and nation will operate by worthy leader if the youth groups will take position against the corruption.
ACC secretary Faizur Rahman Chowdhury said only 1,073 people are working to combat corruption when the size of the population of the country is over 16 crore.
He urged to people to take position against corruption from own situations.
