The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Wednesday filed a case against
two police officials for taking bribes of Taka one crore.
ACC director Nasim Anwar filed the case (No. 24) before Ramna Police
Station under section 5 (2) of Anti-Corruption Law and section 4 (2)
of Money Laundering Law.
The two accused of the case are—former sub-inspector of police of DB
(North) Abul Hasnat Khandaker and sub-inspector of police of Bongsal
Police Station Mohammad Jwel Miah.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) police on April 6
detained businessman Syed Abidul Islam from his Gulshan residence
without any reason. Police demanded Tk 1.05 crore on condition of his
release.
SI Abul Hasnat of DB withdrew Tk one crore from the accounts of the
businessman from Shantinagar branches of Commercial Bank and BRAC
banks and he was released on April 7 this year.
Former deputy commissioner of DB of Dhaka (North) Mollah Nazrul was
not included in the accused list as the investigation officer did not
found his involvement in it.
After the incident, deputy commissioner Nazrul Islam was made officer
